Kaya FC escaped a threatening Azkals Development Team (ADT), 1-0, in the 2020 Philippines Football League (PFL) on Saturday, October 31 at the PFF National Training Center in Carmona, Cavite.

The 2019 PFL runner-up rises to 2nd behind United City FC in the standings with 6 points and +2 goal difference, while the national youth team remains winless in the bubble.

In the 16th minute, Kenshiro Daniels fired towards the bottom right corner on the run after ADT’s Carlo Diano missed a header to clear the ball.

The young Azkals, though, were able to bring the game to a back-and-forth action within the midfield, winning 48% of the possession in the game.

ADT was also able to surprise Kaya as they came out with more confidence in pressing higher against the offensive squad.

But the Kaya frontline, led by Horikoshi Daizo, returned the same amount of aggressiveness and they continued to craft chances for the 2020 AFC Cup qualifier.

“This game is very tough for us, but it’s very important for us so I’m very happy to win,” said Daizo, who was awarded the Player of the Match.

The Under-23 national team struggled to finish their chances down the stretch as they capped off the match with 3 straight set-pieces that failed to find the back of the net. – Rappler.com
