MANILA, Philippines – Gilas Pilipinas will meet their continental rivals Iran in the second round of the 2015 FIBA Asia Championship on Monday, September 28 at 11:45 am.
A win by Gilas will solidify their entry into the quarterfinals and, if they also win versus India, will make them the top seed entering the playoffs.
The Philippines, which holds a 2-1 record in Group E after defeating Japan, will face the reigning FIBA Asia champions with their naturalized center Andray Blatche still nursing a sprained ankle suffered in the Japan game.
Gilas will be trying to hand Iran its first defeat in the tournament while avenging their loss in the gold medal match of the 2013 FIBA Asia Championship.
