Teodoro explodes late as JRU takes down Lyceum

MANILA, Philippines – Jose Rizal University explosive scorer Tey Teodoro was phenomenal in the fourth quarter, as he scored 16 points down the stretch to lead his Heavy Bombers past the Lyceum Pirates, 75-60, at the San Juan Arena on Friday, July 24.

Teodoro scored 20 of his 25 points in the second half to go with 7 rebounds and 4 assists in his most impressive game of the season to help JRU improve to 3-2.

Teodoro, who came in the game averaging just 8.5 points per contest despite heavy expectations entering the NCAA season, went on a tear by racking up his 16 straight points consecutively, turning what was an unsafe 57-51 JRU lead to a comfortable 73-60 margin.

Lyceum, who fell to 1-4 with the loss, was led by Joseph Gabayni, who scored 15 points.

The Pirates trailed 21-10 after the first quarter and 37-29 at the half before trimming into JRU’s lead, 52-47, in the final period.

However, Lyceum couldn’t contain the offensive explosion of Teodoro, who will be back in action along with his Heavy Bombers on Tuesday, July 28, when they face the struggling 1-4 CSB Blazers.

The Pirates will be back in action 3 days later on Friday, July 31, against the Mapua Cardinals.
