GlobalPort improves to 4-6 as Terrence Romeo scores 26 points

MANILA, Philippines – The GlobalPort Batang Pier improve to a 4-6 record as they fend off defending champions Rain Or Shine Elasto Painters, 107-101, in the 2017 PBA Commissioner’s Cup on Friday, May 26 at the Alonte Sports Arena in Biñan, Laguna. 

The Batang Pier rocketed to a strong 27-14 start, but found themselves trailing by 7 late in the 4th quarter. Terrence Romeo served up some late-game heroics as he downed a triple that gave GlobalPort a 101-97 lead with over a minute remaining in the game. 

Romeo led all scorers with 26 points to go with 5 rebounds and 7 assists for the Batang Pier, while import Justin Harper, who was subjected to early foul trouble, added 19 points and 10 boards.

Duke Crews had a 23-point, 17-rebound performance for Rain Or Shine, while James Yap added 22 markers on 8-of-13 shooting.

The Elasto Painters slipped to a 5-5 win-loss card.
