Former UP Maroon Kyles Lao ready for PBA
The former UAAP Rookie of the Year admits there's pressure as he applies for the 2018 PBA Draft

MANILA, Philippines – Former UP Fighting Maroons standout Kyles Lao has decided to turn professional by submitting his application for the 2018 PBA Rookie Draft.

The former UAAP Rookie of the Year, who now plays for the Manila Stars in the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League, says he has “mixed feelings” regarding his new move.

“It’s a dream for me to play in the PBA ever since I was young. It’s also a dream for my family,” Lao said.

“But there is also pressure because I don’t know what will happen. It’s not a sure thing if I’ll be selected in the first or second round, or if I’ll be picked in the draft.”

The 23-year-old played 4 seasons with UP before seeing action with AMA in the PBA D-League and the Stars in the MPBL.

“I’m not sure where I’ll end up or which team would pick me. But my family, they have been fully supportive to me, they told me to be ready. I have to prepare well too for the Draft Combine,” said Lao.

Draft day is on December 16 at the Robinsons Manila in Ermita. – Rappler.com
