MANILA, Philippines – Almond Vosotros provided the spark for the Cebuana Lhuillier Gems to turn back the MJM Builders-FEU, 87-72, in the PBA D-League Aspirants Cup on Monday, December 1 at the JCSGO Gym in Cubao.
Vosotros tallied a game-high 26 points, 12 of which came in the fourth, along with 3 assists and 3 steals to push Cebuana up to a 3-3 win-loss slate.
The De La Salle guard led a 26-point fourth period barrage that allowed the Gems to pull away for good.
Fellow Green Archer Norbert Torres added 15 points and 13 rebounds while UST’s Kevin Ferrer had 11 markers and 8 boards.
MJM slipped to 2-4 despite Mac Belo’s 17-point, 8-rebound effort.
Meanwhile, Jay-R Taganas continued his onslaught as he registered a double-double of 15 points and 18 rebounds to help AMA University overcome Bread Story-Lyceum, 97-89, in the second game Monday.
Taganas, a former San Beda Red Lion, also had a double-double output in a dominant win over Racal Motors just 6 days ago. This time around, he also added 7 assists and two blocks.
The Titans led by as much 81-56 in the fourth, but Bread Story clawed their way back into the game and came to within 93-88 with just under a minute left. But AMA proved steady down the stretch to improve their record to 3-3.
Joseph Eriobu had the most points of the Titans with 19 to go with 7 boards while Philip Paniamogan added 17 points.
Bread Story had an explosive performance from Louie Vigil who dropped 16 of his total 25 points in the final frame. But it wasn’t enough as Bread Story slid to 2-4.
In the first game, Jeff Viernes led Racal Motors to a 77-66 upset of Jumbo Plastic Linoleum.
He topscored with 19 points, including 13 in the third period, while Jason Ibay chipped in 16 markers for Racal, who rose to 2-4.
Mark Cruz had 14 points and 7 rebounds for Jumbo Plastic, which fell to 4-2. – Rappler.com
