MANILA, Philippines – Following Microsoft’s charge in releasing new hardware to complement the Windows 10 operating system, Acer on Monday, October 12, showed off two new computing devices powered by the new OS: The Acer Aspire R14 and the Acer Aspire Z3-700.
Whereas the Aspire R14 is a convertible notebook, the Aspire Z3-700 touts itself as a portable all-in-one PC.
The Aspire R14 notebook sports 14-inch screen and a hairline-brush metallic finish with a diamond-cut edge design. A 360-degree dual torque hinge lets users switch through four different usage modes – tablet, display, tent, and laptop.
The Aspire R14 weighs 1.9 kilograms, and is equipped with a 6th-generation Intel Core processor, up to 8GB of DDR3L system memory, as well as SSD storage capabilities.
Windows 10’s Continuum function will enable the laptop to easily maintain a task after switching to a new mode.

Acer’s Aspire Z3-700, on the other hand, is a 17.3-inch portable PC that has kickstands to prop the device up for notebook-styled usage.
The device’s display is full-HD, with 1920×1080 pixel resolution and a 10-point capacitive touchscreen. It also supports input via stylus.
The Aspire Z3-700 will use Intel Pentium and Celeron processors, will contain up to 8GB of RAM, and have SSD or HDD storage capabilities.
will be released in Europe by the year’s end, beginning at €599 (about $680, AU$930 or £445). It has a battery life of up to 5 hours, and kickstands that allow it to be propped up for more notebook-like use.
The Aspire Z3 will be powered by processors from Intel Pentium and Celeron, will feature up to 8GB of RAM, and come in SSD or HDD storage options. The display comes with a full-HD, 1,920×1,080-pixel resolution and features a 10-point capacitive touchscreen that supports input via a dedicated stylus, similar to Microsoft’s own Surface Pro range.
