Apple working with Valve to make Steam Link compliant
Apple isn't closing the door on the app, with the company's senior vice president Phil Schiller saying they want to ensure it will comply with App Store guidelines

MANILA, Philippines – Apple senior vice president of worldwide marketing Phil Schiller said the tech giant is now working with Valve Corporation to make a version of the Steam Link app that complies with App Store rules.

Apple had initially announced last Friday, May 25, that it had rejected Steam Link due to “business conflicts.”

Earlier this month, Valve announced it was releasing Steam Link, which would allow gamers using the Steam digital gaming distribution platform to play their games on Android and iOS devices.

While Android already has its Steam Link version out in beta, Valve said Apple revoked its approval for the app, preventing it from showing on the App Store.

Schiller, in an email sent to Apple users and then circulated on Reddit, explained, “The review team found that Valve’s Steam iOS app, as currently submitted, violates a number of guidelines around user-generated content, in-app purchases, content codes, etc.”

Apple, however, doesn’t appear to be closing the door on the application. Schiller added Apple will work with Valve to “help bring the Steam experience to iOS and AppleTV in a way that complies with the store’s guidelines.”

Schiller continued, “We put great effort into creating an App Store that provides the very best experience for everyone. We have clear guidelines that all developers must follow in order to ensure the App Store is a safe place for all users and a fair opportunity for all developers.” – Rappler.com
