MANILA, Philippines – A graphic crush video gains infamy on social media, stirring up calls to sanction the 3 girls who are shown crushing a live puppy with their feet until it dies.
The video spread quickly on Facebook along with stills and photos of the culprits, who have yet to be identified.
What horrible, vicious and heartless human beings these people are. Horrific. Being a pet owner it makes me so furious! #StopAnimalCruelty— Anne Curtis-Smith (@annecurtissmith) October 3, 2013

The Philippine Animal Welfare Society or PAWS has sent a letter of request for an investigation to the Bureau of Animal Industry.
“We are trying to do our best to gather more information as to whether this video is the same one in a previously filed case, or a new one. If it is the latter, we implore the source of this video to please step forward and provide the necessary information so we can immediately file a case against the perpetrators of this horrific act.“
Crush films are videos showing small animals like mammals, birds, and reptiles being mutilated and tortured. These films are widely distributed and sold online.
A Filipino couple was arrested in 2011 for making and selling videos like these. The organization People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals put up a reward of P100,000 for information on the couple.
In the Philippines, Republic Act 8485 or the Animal Welfare Act of 1998 penalizes the unlawful torture, maltreatment, and killing of animals. If found guilty, those involved may face either imprisonment for 6 months to two years, a fine of P1,000 to P5,000, or both. – Rappler.com
