MANILA, Philippines — It was bound to happen.
Hours before the official launch of the Samsung Galaxy S5, leaked images of the smartphone appear online. The images reveal a device that is longer than the Galaxy S4 but with the same form factor, on its back faux leather but with a dotted texture unlike the leather back of the Note 3 .
This is consistent with a previous report based on “design reference” that debunked earlier reports that the S5 would have edge-to-edge glass.
The leaks come from Singaporean forum Hardwarezone, and the SaudiAndroid Twitter account.
Close-up photos of the back of S5 show a port cover that confirms rumors the the S5 will be water-resistant.
A phone of the phone’s app drawer also confirms reports that the S5 will have a fingerprint scanner built-into its home button.
The Samsung Galaxy S5 is expected to sport a 5.1-inch display, powered by a 2.5 GHz quad-core processor with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of storage. It is also expected to sport a 16MP camera with a 1/2.5-inch image sensor.
