MANILA, Philippines – The whole world will be watching as Apple reveals its new products at its September 12 event in California. 

The main attractions: new iPhones, which leaks have revealed as the iPhone 8, 8 Plus, and a new luxury model sporting fresher nomenclature, the iPhone X.

This being the iPhone’s 10th anniversary, people are expecting a radical refresh not just with the specs but especially with its looks. (READ: 13 rumored iPhone 8 details solidified by iOS 11 leak)

The most exciting change? Leaks have revealed that the iPhone will be sporting an 18.5:9 aspect ratio and an edge-to-edge display a la the Galaxy S8’s “infinity” screen and that the home button – which has long-defined the Apple product – will be sent to retirement. The phones, however, are just one part of this show. Apparently, Apple has other products too, and these are the ones that may be getting some stage time at this specific event: 

1) New Apple Watch

The Apple Watch has evolved to become more useful since its debut in 2015. Last year’s update saw Apple giving it a GPS chip, so one could use it even without an iPhone nearby. This year? Some are expecting that an LTE chip may be added so it can connect event without a phone – that is, if the battery life problem has been solved to accommodate the energy demands of such a component. 

Such an addition may just revolutionize wearables as the new Watch frees itself from being tethered to a smartphone to give us a new way of staying connected. 

2) New Apple TV

Apple TV may be making the jump to 4K this year. It probably should, given that competitors such as Chromecast, Roku and just recently Amazon Fire TV have 4K-capable versions already. 

3) iOS 11 

Expect a big demo of the latest version of Apple’s phone OS, the iOS 11, first unveiled at June’s WWDC 2017. First made available to developers (and then leaked just days before the big Apple event), iOS 11 will soon be making a splash on real devices, most notably on the new iPhones. 

iOS 11 features redesigns of several key elements such as the dock and the app switcher; a new Files app to keep files in one place whether it’s stored locally or in the cloud; and new Apple Pencil capabilities. 

It’s designed to be a robust platform for augmented reality (AR) content, and will come with a set of developer tools called ARKit to help devs create AR experiences.The camera also has new tricks such as Boomerang-like “Loop” and “Bounce” effects and can save in a new file format called High Efficiency Image File Format (HEIF) for reduced file sizes of photos.
