Microsoft officially reveals the Xbox One S
MANILA, Philippines (UPDATED) – Microsoft officially revealed the Xbox One S at the beginning of its Xbox press conference on Tuesday, June 14.
According to the official product webpage, the Xbox One S will cost $399 and will be available in August.
The slimmer version of the Xbox One was earlier eaked on the NeoGAF forums ahead of Microsoft's pre-E3 (Electronic Entertainment Expo) press conference.
According to the description on the screenshot from KawabataSan, the new console is called the Xbox One S, and is 40% smaller than the original Xbox One.
The Xbox One S will come with a 2TB hard drive and 4K Ultra HD video support.
The news of the Xbox One S comes amid reports of an even more powerful model of the Xbox One, codenamed Scorpio. (READ: What to look forward to at E3 2016)
It also follows Sony's confirmation that a 4K video-capable PlayStation 4 – currently known as the PlayStation 4.5 or Neo – is eventually going to make it to store shelves. Sony also said, however, that this newer PlayStation 4 will not be making an appearance at E3. – Rappler.com
