The RH law has been declared constitutional save for a few key provisions. How are netizens taking the news?

MANILA, Philippines – The declaration of the Supreme Court (SC) that the reproductive health (RH) law is constitutional is a major boost for proponents of the measure. It’s been a rough road for RH advocates, a battle stretching on for over 14 years in varying halls of government, with opponents of the measure stalling the law’s impementation (and previously, the bill’s passage) as long as they could. 

Considering that a recent SWS survey shows 77% of Filipinos backing the RH law’s constitutionality, celebrations appear in order. Proponents such as Senators Pia Cayetano and Miriam Santiago are particularly approving of the news. However, the SC also struck down 8 key provisions in the law in the process. Authors of the law assure that this move will not water down its efficacy, but this remains to be seen in the actual implementation.
