Donaire wins

Nonito Donaire Jr won over South African boxer Jeffrey Mathebula on Sunday, July 8, to retain the World Boxing Organization crown he won in February. He won unanimously with the judges scoring 117-110, 118-109 and 119-108. He won his 28^th straight fight in a streak that dates back to 2001. While Donaire, hailed as “the next Manny Pacquiao” improved to 29-1 with 18 knockouts, Mathebula dropped to 26-4 with two draws and 14 knockouts. The title-holder said in an interview after the fight, “One more belt, and I’m good to go to 126.”
