Rappler Talk: Youth climate activist Jefferson Estela on why the Glasgow UN summit matters
Jefferson Estela crowdfunded his way to Glasgow, where he would represent the voice of the Filipino youth at COP26

Twenty-three year-old Jefferson Estela organized the Philippines’ first nationwide climate youth strike in 2019, inspired by Greta Thunberg.

Today, he is in Glasgow for the historic United Nations climate conference, called COP26.

Estela initially didn’t have the money to attend the summit, given pandemic restrictions and the rising costs of travel. So he crowdsourced funds, telling potential donors of the importance of the Filipino youth’s voice in the climate talks.

From Glasgow, Estela talks to Rappler senior reporter Pia Ranada about why COP26 should matter to Filipinos. – Rappler.com
