Blacklist International proved its championship mettle after beating Omega Esports in a come-from-behind fashion in Season 8 of the Mobile Legends Professional League Philippines (MPL PH) on Saturday, September 4.

Defeated in a series opener for the first time this season, the reigning champions won back-to-back games to stun Omega in their best-of-three duel and hike its record to a perfect 3-0.

Game 3 was virtually tied at the 20th minute until Blacklist, thanks to some nifty plays from Salic “Hadji” Imam and Edward “Edward” Dapadap, seized the upper hand with a crucial four-man kill.

Hiding in the bush, Hadji (Kagura) caught Dean “Raizen” Sumagui (Kaja) napping for the quick kill, while Edward (Paquito) flickered his way in to eliminate Patrick “E2max” Caidic (Nathan) and set up the near wipeout.

With Renz “Renzio” Cadua (Phoveus) the only remaining player for Omega, Blacklist proceeded to end the decider in 21 minutes.

Edward finished with 6 kills and 2 assists against 2 deaths, Hadji had 5 kills and 4 assists against 3 deaths, while Kiel “Oheb” Soriano (Beatrix) racked up 4 kills and 6 assists against 2 deaths in the win.

Blacklist improved to 7 points to force a tie at the second spot with Echo, which saw its two-series winning streak snapped following a 1-2 loss to RSG Philippines earlier in the day.

RSG clinched 6th place with 4 points.

Meanwhile, TNC issued another sweep, this time dismantling Season 6 champion Bren Esports to climb to 4th place with 6 points.

It has been a frustrating start for Bren, which lost its first three series as it stayed at last place tied with Nexplay EVOS with just 1 point. – Rappler.com
