GoTyme Bank’s short film “The Lonely Bot” is a love letter.

It’s their way of showing their love for customers, but also for their hardworking customer service representatives. It’s their way of making a promise: better customer service with actual helpful humans.

The film is about Roboto, a (you guessed it) robot that wakes up in a scrap heap with his friend Roberta who is beyond repair. Roboto, a former movie star, is yearning for an emotional connection. So he explores the world but fails to find someone to talk to until he sees the GoTyme Bank hotline. He rings up the number and finally connects with someone.

It’s an adorable film that was made with practical effects using an actual physical Roboto puppet. Scored with a slow ballad, it’s an emotionally charged story that made those of us who watched the premiere last October 5 at the Robinsons Magnolia VIP Cinema want to hug Roboto. With barely any mention of the bank itself, GoTyme wanted viewers to focus on one thing: creating human connections.

The film is a peek at what they promise customers will experience – fast and responsive actual human beings whether contacted through call, email, or chat. GoTyme Bank promises that customer service representatives will be available 24/7. The bank guarantees that a personal banker will respond to a chat within one minute, pick up a call within two minutes, or revert via email or direct message on social media within three hours.

“The more digital the world becomes, the more human a bank needs to be,” said GoTyme Bank CEO Nate Clarke.

So despite its focus on digital services, the people behind the app acknowledge that nothing can replace an actual human connection – where people can help each other bayanihan style.

“Businesses have rushed to put AI in front and center of serving their customers, but customers do not want to be serviced by robots, by bots. And people still yearn for that human connection,” said Clarke.

GoTyme Bank chief marketing officer Raymund Villanueva adds that humans have achieved a lot of automation, artificial intelligence, and discoveries that are now becoming more pervasive in our daily lives. “However, there is one thing that remains the same in all of us – the search for genuine connections with others which as a central point of our brand is embodied in all of us at GoTyme Bank.”

GoTyme Bank, a joint venture between the Gokongwei Group and Tyme Group, also has 900 customer service representatives in kiosks across the country for those who need personal and physical assistance.

“The Lonely Bot” will be screened across all Robinsons Movieworld branches nationwide, and can be streamed online as well.

First launched in October 2022, GoTyme Bank has now over a million customers. Opening an account takes less than five minutes, and users can get a free digital VISA debit card on the app itself or have one printed at a GoTyme kiosk. Transfers between GoTyme accounts are free, while users get three free transfers to any other bank per week.
