FEU student org urges better treatment for frontliners at MedTech Week 2021

The Medical Technology Society of Far Eastern University seeks to honor local frontliners, discuss the current state of the country’s healthcare system and what lies ahead for future workers in the field during FEU Medical Technology Week 2021, happening from October 18 to 22. 

MedTech Week is an annual student event in solidarity with the national week-long celebration of the Philippine Association of Medical Technologists, Incorporated. This year, the FEU Medical Technology Society will continue its efforts to honor and call for better treatment of frontliners amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

With the theme “Ascending Towards Greater Heights, Towards a Better Tomorrow,” the event aims to help MedTech students – as the next generation of health-allied workers –  discuss what can be done to improve the country’s healthcare system.

For the five-day event, the Medical Technology Society prepared live webinars, as well as fun, virtual extracurricular activities for the MedTech Tamaraw community, which includes the first-ever eSports tournament hosted by the organization.

Here’s the MedTech Week 2021 schedule:

• October 18 (4 pm) – 2nd Fluorescence Quiz Show
• October 19 (1 pm) – #OnTheFrontline panel discussion
• October 20 (1 pm) – Mayors’ Assembly
• October 21 (1 pm) – From RMT to MD: The Journey to Medical School webinar
• October 22 – Liga Hiraya eSports Tournament Finals

#OnTheFrontline panel discussion aims to paint a picture of what the frontliners are experiencing in the field, while the From RMT to MD: The Journey to Medical School webinar aims to guide MedTech students who are eyeing a medical degree.

As for the other activities lined up for the week, the organization sought to host events that would allow their peers to demonstrate their skills and abilities, as well as de-stress and have fun.
