The SM-owned, Hilton-managed hotel is located in the flourishing Bay City district

MANILA, Philippines – With the country welcoming more tourists than ever, a new luxury name has entered the Philippine hotel landscape.

Conrad Hotels & Resorts, one of the luxury arms of Hilton Worldwide, made its debut in the Philippines with the opening of Conrad Manila in the heart of the burgeoning casino district of Bay City on Wednesday, June 15.

Located in front of the Mall of Asia complex,  the 347-room Conrad Manila is owned by SM Hotels and Conventions Corporation, a subsidiary of Sy family-led SM Investments Corporation, and managed by Hilton Worldwide.

“We are pleased to work with Hilton Worldwide in bringing the esteemed Conrad brand to Manila. Amidst the robust tourism outlook, the most anticipated opening of Conrad Manila will definitely be a game changer in the already exciting Philippine hotel scene,” said SM Hotels and Conventions Corporation president Elizabeth Sy.

Receipts generated from visitors to the country for the first 4 months of 2016 totaled P86.66 billion, representing a 12.34% gain from the same period last year. April alone saw an increase of 4.08%, according to data from the Department of Tourism (DOT).

Tourists are also spending more, averaging a daily expenditure of P5,250.98 – or P575 more than the same time last year. This, however, is not quite at the luxury level of the Conrad yet.

Award-winning design

The well-heeled business travelers and high rollers who will stay at the Conrad Manila will be treated to a building that was recently awarded the Best Hotel Development, Best Hotel Architectural Design, and Best Hotel Interior Design at the 4th Annual Philippines Property Awards held in April.

The hotel sits atop the two-level S Maison, a high-end retail complex. It also has direct walkways to the SMX Convention Center, the country’s largest convention space, and is adjacent to the SM Mall of Asia and the Mall of Asia Arena.

FORWARD-LOOKING. All of the hotel's 347 rooms and suites are equipped with nifty features. Upon sensing motion in the room, the air conditioning switches from energy-saving mode to cool while the curtains in the room will automatically open with ambient lighting set to match the time of the day.

The hotel offers 4 contemporary event halls and two ballrooms spanning more than 4,000 square meters. It also features 6 restaurants and lounges, including a coffee bar, pool bar, and in-room dining.

An infinity pool overlooking Manila Bay plus a 24-hour fitness center and spa round out the luxury features. – Rappler.com
