MANILA, Philippines – The level of makeup transfoformations intensified on week 3 of Your Face Sounds Familiar Kids as the young contestants continued to test their skills in performing — and transforming – into different international and local artists.
This week’s episode is also the first without one of the original judges Gary Valenciano, who is on leave after undergoing a heart bypass surgery. Jed Madela and Nyoy Volante, who arez kids’ mentors, filled in as judges.
Here’s a recap of the May 19 and 20 episodes:
MAY 19
Sheena Belarmino as Chris Brown
Sheena transformed herself into Chris Brown, singing the song “Yeah 3x.”
Ogie Alcasid described Sheena’s performance as “chill” and said that he looking forward to seeing more of her performances.
TNT Boys as Salbakuta
The trio tested their rap skills as they performed the group’s hit “S2pid Love.”
Jed Madela told the boys that one of the things he loves about mentoring them is that they never let go of their respective characters.
“We are always looking forward to your performance. Kaya lagi kaming excited pag nag-peperform kayo (That’s why we’re always excited to watch you perform). So keep it up,” Jed said.
Chunsa Jung as Taylor Swift
Chunsa showed her pop side as she channeled Taylor Swift and sang “Shake It Off.”
Sharon Cuneta said that she always looks forward to Chunsa’s performances, saying that not all kids her age can quickly pick up lessons from rehearsals.
Noel Comia Jr as Tina Turner
From portraying rock ‘n roll icon Pepe Smith, Noel transformed into one of the most popular divas of all time — Tina Turner. He sang “What’s Love Got To Do With It.”
Nyoy, who also did Tina Turner during his time in the show, commended Noel for transforming into Tina, which he noted was not easy to do.
“The things that we like about your performance is one, your level of commitment. Hindi ka kumawala (You did not detach from character). Yung mga nuances, inisip mo talaga, mag-ayos ng buhok…by placing those nuances sa performance mo, nakadagdag siya na ‘ay oo nga Tina Turner nga ganun’. (Your paid attention to the nuances, from the way the hair is styled… by placing those nuances in your performance, it made the transformation into Tina Turner more convincing.) “
MAY 20
Krystal Brimner as Jessie J
This week, Krystal went fierce as Jessie J, signing “Domino.”
Sharon said that Krystal was one of the best performances she has seen so far in the competition.
Marco Masa as Yoyo Villame
Marco turned up the charm as one of the country’s top singer-comedians, Yoyoy Villame, singing “Mag-Exercise Tayo.”
Ogie commended Marco for his commitment to portray the late singer-comedian. he described Yoyoy as a genius, with the songs he sang as “educational.”
Onyok Pineda as Elvis Presley
Onyok channeled the King of Rock and Roll Elvis Presley, singing “Teddy Bear.”
Jed said that he was happy with the performance of Onyok, especially because of the energy he exerts in everything he does.
Esang de Torres as Lea Salonga
Esang closed the week with her rendition of Lea Salonga’s “On My Own” from Les Miserables.
Nyoy told Esang that they all had the goosebumps during her performance Lea. “It was very beautifully sung. We were mesmerized the way we would been mesmerized if we were watching Lea Salonga performed.”
Krystal won this week’s performance, receiving P50,000 worth of backpacks for a school in Montalban. – Rappler.com
