WATCH: Kris Aquino appeals to Bong Go after Mocha Uson refuses to apologize
'I want to end this just by saying, 'Mocha, you win'

MANILA, Philippines – Kris Aquino looked defeated in her live videos on social media as she appealed to presidential aide Bong Go to act on a request.

On Instagram and Facebook on Wednesday, June 6, Aquino reacted to Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO) assistant secretary Mocha Uson’s refusal to apologize for posting a video of Aquino’s father that she took offense to. At a press conference that was held earlier that day, Go read out a text message from Aquino and said that he and the President agreed that Uson should apologize. (READ: Mocha Uson to apologize to Kris Aquino, says Bong Go)

After saying that Uson had hurt her, and after hinting at a possible Senate bid, Kris said: “Pantay-pantay tayong lahat. Lahat tayo naranasan na nating maapakan. Lahat tayo naranasan nang bastusin ang dignidad natin. Pero hindi ako pinalaki para sumuko kahit gaano kapagod. Pero hindi rin ako pinalaki para mabastos.”

(We’re all equal. We’ve all experienced getting stepped on. We’ve all experienced our dignity being disrespected. But I wasn’t raised to give up, no matter how tired I am. But I also wasn’t raised to be disrespected.)

She then addressed Go, saying that only he had the power to grant her request, but Aquino did not specify exactly what it was that she asked of Go.

“Nananawagan na lang ako sa isang taong nakinig sa akin. Sir Bong Go, alam kong aabot ito sa ‘yo. Ang hinihingi ko sa ‘yo, ‘yung sinabi ko na ikaw lang ang may kapangyarihan na puwedeng mangyari yun, sana gawin mo. Dahil umaasa ako sa ‘yo.

(I’m calling out to the one person who listened to me. Sir Bong Go, I know this will reach you. What I’m asking of you, what I said about you being the only person with the power who can make it happen, I hope you do it. Because I’m counting on you.)

Aquino said that she has known Go for 8 years and that she told him that she considered him “a good man” whom she respected, and she would campaign for him if he ever chose to run for the Senate.

But, she added, “Bakit mo iiwanan ang Presidente? Baka yung mga nag-uudyok sa ‘yo tumakbo, mga ahas lang na gustong kunin ang posisyon mo.” (Why would you leave the President? The ones pushing you to run could be snakes who want to take your position.)

‘You win’

Earlier in her June 6 video, Aquino told Uson that she had won their squabble: “You win because you hurt me and I think that’s what you wanted to do.”

(You win because you continued to step on the dignity, the memory of the two people I love the most. When I said I was not backing down, I prayed. And I realized, what for? Whatever kindness I show you, no matter how I try to fix this with you, you don’t want to.)

Aquino and Uson’s row started when Uson posted a video wherein the late Benigno Aquino was kissed by two women on a plane before he was assassinated. Uson compared the scene to President Rodrigo Duterte’s widely criticized kiss with a married woman at a presidential event in South Korea.

Aquino responded through her social media accounts, telling Uson not to attack her parents, as they have passed away and cannot defend themselves.

While presidential aide Bong Go later said that the President expected an apology from Uson, she said in a video addressed to Aquino: “Tungkol ito sa paglagay ng malisya sa isang halik. Itinumbas lang sa gawain ng ibang lider tulad ng tatay niya. (This is about putting malice in a kiss. I just compared the actions of other leaders like her father). Ms Aquino, this is not about you.“

Before thanking her fans and telling them she loved them, Aquino ended by addressing Uson and saying: “You’re right. This was not about Kris Aquino. This was a reminder that Filipinos still love and respect [my parents] Cory and Ninoy Aquino. – Rappler.com
