Jeongyeon of K-pop girl group TWICE will be taking another break from promotional activities due to mental health concerns.
In a statement released by TWICE’s agency JYP Entertainment on Wednesday, August 18, the entertainment company said Jeongyeon will not be participating in the group’s upcoming activities to prioritize her health and recovery.
“Jeongyeon is currently experiencing panic and psychological anxiety. Although Jeongyeon was moving forward with her schedule by simultaneously taking action for recovery, we value our artists’ health as the most important issue,” the statement read.
They added that after a discussion with Jeongyeon and the other TWICE members, they decided to halt Jeongyeon’s participation in the group’s upcoming activities so she will be given “sufficient time to focus on her recovery and rest.”
JYP Entertainment also promised fans that they will “provide the best procedures for Jeongyeon to recover with the sufficient amount of time.”
This is the second time that Jeongyeon suspended her activities for health reasons. In October 2020, she went on hiatus after JYP Entertainment said Jeongyeon is “experiencing psychological anxiousness in moving forward with her schedule.”
As a result, Jeongyeon was not present for the promotional activities for TWICE’s second full album Eyes Wide Open, which was released on October 26, 2020. She returned for group promotions at the 30th Seoul Music Awards on January 31, 2021.
