LISTEN: Ice Seguerra sings of hope in ‘Wag Kang Aalis’

Ice Seguerra sings of hope and healing in a song written out of his own battle with depression.

“Wag Kang Aalis” was released on World Mental Health Day on October 10. In the the track, Ice’s heartfelt lyrics are highlighted by a pared-down arrangement. “Wag kang aalis/ diyan ka lang muna sa aking tabi (don’t leave, stay by my side),” he sings.

The song, Ice shared, is deeply personal, and was written as he was going through one of his “low moments.”

“As a depressive person, minsan ang hirap sabihin nang mga nararamdaman ko “(it’s hard sometimes to share how I feel) especially at that moment when I need help the most. This song is about that. The feelings we want to share and the words we want to say, but cannot,” he said.

On Instagram, he shared his hope that the song brings comfort to people who are also experiencing depression.

“To the sufferer, I hope this song can bring you comfort during those times you feel alone. When you’re at your lowest and you feel like giving up, wait it out. Take it one day at a time, or if that’s too much, take it five minutes at a time,” he wrote.

“To the support person, I hope that through this song, you will know what we need when we are feeling down. We don’t need much, we just need YOU. Your presence, your undivided attention. We need you to hear us out without any judgment,” he added.
