Deniece Cornejo to drop libel complaint against Fashion Pulis

MANILA, Philippines – Things are on the mend between Fashion Pulis blogger Michael Sy Lim and model Deniece Cornejo, after he apologized to Deniece. On Instagram, Michael posted a photo of him and Deniece at an event.

“In the spirit of Christmas, [Deniece] @onlydeniecornejo and I have decided to put our differences behind us. To Deniece, my apologies if I hurt your feelings because of my post. I want you to know that I had no such intention. I was just doing my job. #spreadthelove,” he wrote.

On December 3, Michael told Rappler through text that Deniece decided to drop the charges. Deniece’s legal counsel, Ferdinand Topacio, confirmed that Deniece decided to withdraw her libel complaint against Michael.

Through text, Topacio said, “As legal counsel of the lovely Ms Deniece Cornejo, I confirm that my client and Mr Michael Sy Lim, aka Fashion Pulis, have come to terms regarding the subject of a cyberlibel case filed by my client against Mr Sy, who has publicly apologized and which apology was accepted by Ms Cornejo, in the spirit of the season. Part of the agreement was that my client would cause the withdrawal of the criminal complaint against Mr Sy. They have also agreed henceforth to become friends.”

In a follow-up text, Topacio said, “Rest assured that we demanded nothing of Mr Sy other than his sincere apology because an apology is priceless.”

Earlier on December 4, Deniece reposted Michael’s Instagram photo, saying that she has accepted Michael’s apology.

(A lot of news has come out that has no truth to it, there are many people that I know and don’t really know in the indsutry who have also asked me for forgiveness and many of them have become my friends. During Christmas, our desire is to accept apologies especially if this is sincerely given. Our lives aren’t perfect but what is important is that we are united and I’m thankful for this blessing that I experienced. I consider this as a sign to victory soon.)

Last August, Michael was arrested over a libel charge filed by Deniece. This was in relation to a post wherein Michael shared a medical reported that was allegedly leaked by Healthway.

The medical report was taken at the time Deniece said she was allegedly raped by comedian Vhong Navarro in January 2014. In the report, Healthway concluded that Deniece may have a sexually transmitted disease. 

Deniece came into the public eye when she accused Vhong of raping her, which was dismissed by the Department of Justice.
