The spin-off series starring Jenna Ortega is premiering on November 23

MANILA, Philippines – Netflix released on Sunday, October 9, the official trailer for its Addams Family spin-off series Wednesday, giving fans a first glimpse of Christina Ricci’s character.

Ricci, who starred as Wednesday in the 1991 film The Addams Family and 1993 sequel Addams Family Values, was confirmed to have a new role in the series.

In the trailer, she was introduced as Ms. Thornhill, a faculty member of Nevermore Academy where Jenna Ortega’s Wednesday is enrolled. Sporting red hair and wearing glasses, Ricci’s character is seen visiting Ortega’s Wednesday and her roommate Enid in the dorm.

“I trust Enid has given you the old Nevermore welcome,” Ms. Thornhill told Wednesday, who replied: “She’s been smothering me with hospitality. I hope to return the favor…in her sleep.”

The trailer also saw Fred Armisen as Uncle Fester, Wednesday’s relative who helped her in solving the strange instances in her new school. “What other surprises are in store?” Wednesday said in a voiceover. “Nevermore continues to be a place where the questions far outweigh the answers. I won’t stop until I find the truth. I know the suspense is killing you.”

Wednesday also stars Catherine Zeta-Jones as matriarch Morticia, Luis Guzmán as Gomez, and Isaac Ordonez as Pugsley.

The eight-episode series follows Wednesday and her high school days at Nevermore Academy as she tries to learn to control her psychic powers and solve the mystery of her family’s curse while navigating the ups and downs of teenage life.

Tim Burton will helm and act as executive producer of the comedy-horror series, together with four-time Oscar winner Colleen Atwood as costume designer. Wednesday is slated for a November 23 premiere. – Rappler.com
