Cold weather, piping hot coffee, and warm analog sound from vinyl records? Yes, please!
Hiding in plain sight, Plakafé, a former bar and restaurant, was tranformed by local artist Oliver Olivete into a functional art installation.
Every nook and cranny of this coffee shop is made from recycled and upcycled materials that Olivete got from FC construction company. He used retasos (scraps) to build the interior of Plakafe, and reused some of the items of the previous establishment.
Every single piece in this place is a work of art – from old chipped cups that were transformed into a chandelier, to stairwells you can eat at.
Filipino comfort food
Staying true to its roots, Plakafé’s menu is filled with Filipino favorites, including fresh lumpia, pancit, chicken mami, and goto. Rice cakes are also available for dessert.
As part of its conscious effort to support local products, 80% of Plakafe’s menu is sourced locally. Try the crafted beers from Sagada, or sip a cup of tea from Laguna. For their coffee, Plakafé uses dark roasted Baguio coffee beans.
Music is an integral part of the café. As the name suggests, vinyl records are played and available for purchase at Plakafé.
Plakafé is perfect if you want to take a short rest or slow down after touring the City of Pines. With great music, unique art, and tasty food, this place will surely make you love Baguio all over again.
