Dragging Corona’s wife ‘wicked,’ says Lagman

MANILA, Philippines – All eight bases for impeaching Chief Justice Renato Corona are baseless, but what is worse is dragging his wife in the impeachment case, said House minority leader Rep. Edcel Lagman on Wednesday, Dec. 14, 2011.

“They are all baseless. including the wicked allegation against the wife of the chief justice. There were naughty question asked there, instead of assertions of facts,” Lagman said at the regular minority press conference.

“And it’s the chief justice who is the respondent, not the wife. I think they have an agenda to really destroy the chief justice by smearing unduly his wife in this particular case,” Lagman added.

Voting 188, the House of Representatives on Dec. 12, 2011 impeached Chief Justice Renato Corona. He is the country’s first chief justice to be impeached. There are eight articles of impeachment under the grounds betrayal of public trust, culpable violation of constitution, and graft and corruption. – Rappler.com
