GMA graft case ‘molehill out of critics’ mountain’

MANILA, Philippines – The lawyer for former first gentleman Jose Miguel “Mike” Arroyo says the graft case filed against his client and former President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo shows critics make a mountain out of a molehill. 

Topacio said the Arroyo camp has not yet formally received a copy of the case, and a subpoena to answer the charges. “Everything we know about it just came from the media.” 

He added that no lawyer has been assigned to the case yet as the Arroyos will still have to study the charges. 

“We expect more [cases] to come because it is part of a pattern,” said Topacio. “We are looking at this from the point of view of the long haul, not just the electoral sabotage case but other cases thrown our way.”

Referring to the Aquino administration, Topacio said, “They will throw everything at us, including the toilet bowl I’m sure.” – Rappler.com
