Two weeks before the elections, the campaign trail brings PROMDI standard-bearer Manny Pacquiao to Eastern Visayas, the home region of Marcos matriarch Imelda Romualdez Marcos.
On Tuesday, April 26, Pacquiao started the Samar leg, visiting Catarman in Northern Samar and Calbayog and Catbalogan cities in Samar. Even if the weather did not cooperate, there was no stopping supporters eager to see and hear Pacquiao speak.
The coming days will be jampacked with activities, as the boxing champion-turned-politician is set to barnstorm the rest of the region – Eastern Samar, Leyte, Southern Leyte, and Biliran – holding pocket rallies at every stop.
Pacquiao is also set to hold a sortie in Tacloban City, the bailiwick of Romualdezes, on Wednesday, April 27. Just the week before, Pacquiao braved Ilocos Norte, the heart of the Marcoses’ political base.
