Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and Sara Duterte, candidates for the two highest posts in the land, are wrapping up their 2022 campaign in cities that played host to key stops in the 90-day campaign period.

Marcos and Duterte have three scheduled miting de avance events – first in Guimbal, Iloilo; then in Tagum City, Davao del Norte; and finally in Parañaque City, Metro Manila. Who’s voting for Marcos on May 9?

Rappler.com

As the Marcos-Duterte slate holds its final grand rally before Monday’s national and local elections, analysts and experts dissect the voter base of Marcos Jr, survey frontrunner. A Washington Post research released on Saturday, May 7, said that Marcos’ supporters are largely those who come from his home region Ilocos. Many of those who say they will vote for him are also supporters of President Rodrigo Duterte, according to the Post.

Others say that voting for Marcos would bring the country back to its “golden age” under the late dictator Ferdinand Marcos Jr, Reuters said in its report. This “golden age” narrative – however detached from the reality of a bankrupt economy and a terrorized society under the dictator – gained traction due to the Marcos camp’s sustained and systematic propaganda on social media in the last six years. We tracked this machinery of disinformation in this piece.
