Workers who are not residents of Navotas City are welcome to avail of the free swab testing

Companies located within Navotas can avail of the free coronavirus swab testing offered by the local government, Mayor Toby Tiangco said.

In a statement on Saturday, July 25, Tiangco said that workers who are not residents of Navotas are welcome to avail of the free testing, in a bid to prevent a community spread.

“Companies are encouraged to have their employees screened for COVID-19. While many are willing to comply, they are daunted by the price of the swab test kits which cost up to P8,000,” Tiangco said.

“Navotas, with the help of our national government, currently provides free swab tests to our residents. Companies are welcome to avail of this program for their employees, whether they are Navoteños or not,” he added.

Interested firms may reach the Navotas City Business Permits and Licensing Office via these numbers: 0921 376 2006 and 0921 890 7520.

Navotas said it can test 1,000 residents daily at the designated testing facilities within the city during its localized lockdown from July 16 to 29. The area lockdown was imposed after a rapid increase in coronavirus cases.

Around 1,000 people are being sent to Palacio de Maynila nearby city Manila for swab test as well.

According to the city government, more than 12,000 swab tests have been done since March, when Navotas recorded its first coronavirus case. – Aika Rey/Rappler.com
