Manila Mayor and presidential candidate Isko Moreno doesn’t want his supporters to be online trolls spreading disinformation.

Hoping to set the tone for civil online political discourse, the 47-year-old aspirant for Malacañang made this request to his followers and allies during no less than his proclamation speech on Tuesday, February 8, day one of the 2022 campaign period.

Wala tayong sisirain. In fact, before I say this, payo ko sa inyo ‘no, lahat ng supporters natin: Puwede tayong lumalaban, pero magalang,” said Moreno before a sea of supporters wearing blue at the Kartilya ng Katipunan. Read the full story here.

Isko Moreno is a man in a hurry, and proud of it.

On the first day of the campaign period for the 2022 Philippine elections, the 47-year-old Manila Mayor and presidential candidate Isko Moreno put his own spin to the common criticism lobbed at him for being in a rush to be chief executive.

At his proclamation rally on Tuesday, February 8, Moreno said the country had experienced 21 years of Marcos rule and 18 years with the Aquinos or Liberal Party in power – a combination of the two Aquino presidencies and six years of LP’s Leni Robredo as Vice President.

Totoo po sinasabi nila. Sige na, sabihin na nila nagmamadali tayo. Eh dapat lang. Eh 39 years na kami naghihintay eh,” said Moreno to a cheering crowd at the Kartilya ng Katipunan just a stone’s throw away from Manila City Hall, his seat of power. Read the full story here.

He said they aimed to build 17 regional hospitals, an infectious disease hospital, a children’s hospital, and a cancer center.

Ong also discussed other issues such as the state of education, food safety and security, science-based rehabilitation for drug addicts, and mental health services.

Kaya sa akin, priority ko po talaga ‘yung mga anak ninyo, gusto ko masaya sila, malusog, at ligtas (For me, my priority is your children, I want them to be happy, healthy, and safe),” he said.

“I can get things done,” Manila Mayor Isko Moreno declared as he kicked off his official 2022 campaign for the Philippine presidency on Tuesday, February 8.

It was his pitch to a nation reeling from the COVID-19 pandemic, hopeful for economic recovery, torn by inequality, and jaded by corruption scandals.

Moreno, his party Aksyon Demokratiko, and his supporters painted the Kartilya ng Katipunan blue as he launched a presidential bid centered on his promise of youthful, energetic leadership that produces results.
