MANILA, Philippines – Tropical Depression Domeng (international name Peipah) has slowed down, as it continues to move toward Caraga in northeastern Mindanao, said state weather bureau PAGASA.

In its 11 pm bulletin on Monday, April 7, PAGASA said the center of Domeng was located at 610 km east of Davao City as of 10 pm, having maximum sustained winds of 55 kph near the center, down from 65 kph based on PAGASA’s 11 am bulletin.

Domeng is forecast to move west northwest at 9 kph, down from 15 kph on Monday morning.

The tropical depression is seen to be at 420 kms east of Davao City by Tuesday evening, April 8. By the next evening, April 9, its location is forecast at 260 kms northeast of Davao City.

By Thursday morning, April 10, it will be in the vicinity of Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur, said PAGASA.

Moderate to heavy rainfall (5 to 15 mm per hour) is estimated within the 400 km diameter of the tropical storm. 

According to Weather Philippines, an independent weather group, the potential landfall will be over the border between Surigao del Norte and Surigao del Sur on Thursday afternoon, April 10. Residents along Mindanao and the Visayas are advised to monitor weather conditions and alerts in the area.

PAGASA’s next weather bulletin on Domeng will be issued at 11 am Tuesday, April 8.
