Gilas Pilipinas rode on a vicious second-half showing to crush Thailand, 93-61, in the first of their two encounters in the FIBA Asia Cup 2021 Qualifiers on Friday, November 27.

Up by only a single possession after the opening quarter, 21-19, the young Filipino squad dominated the Thais, 32-10, in the following period to open the floodgates.

Dwight Ramos chalked up 20 points, 7 rebounds, 3 assists, and 3 steals as Gilas Pilipinas improved to 2-0 in Group A.

Thailand, meanwhile, fell to 0-2.

Gilas Pilipinas banked on Dwight Ramos, Justine Baltazar, and Juan Gomez de Liaño to seize a commanding 53-29 halftime lead over Thailand in the first game of their two meetings.

The trio alone outscored the entire Thailand crew, with Ramos finishing the first half with 13 points and Baltazar and Gomez de Liaño chalking up 10 and 9 points, respectively.

A close opening period saw Thailand trail by only a single possession, 19-21, but the Philippines eventually pulled away, outscoring its foes 32-10 in the following quarter.
