The Mobile Legends Professional League Philippines (MPL PH) has ventured into collectibles as it released the first set of its limited edition trading cards.

Featured in the cards are MPL PH players, teams, shoutcasters, and Filipino boxing icon Manny Pacquiao, who has his own region-exclusive skin created for the game. (READ: Pacquiao makes ‘Mobile Legends’ history with licensed skin)

“The MPL PH player card will serve as an official limited merchandise or collectible to generate hype and anticipation for MPL PH Season 7,” game developer Moonton said in a statement.

A total of 76 designs have been issued bearing photos of the 10 MPL PH teams, 60 players, 5 shoutcasters, and Pacquiao.

Written on the back of the cards are game statistics of the players and teams, and a brief description of the shoutcasters.

Just like other trading cards, the MPL PH cards are classified by rarity: elite, epic, and legendary.

“[S]ince players and teams are featured on the cards, it naturally provides more exposure and create new touch point between MPL PH fans and players/teams,” Moonton said.

With the initiative still in trial mode, fans may get their hands on the cards by joining giveaway promos and raffles hosted by MPL PH, teams, players, and prominent content creators.

“In the foreseeable future, we expect upgraded iterations of such initiative,” Moonton said.

“Paid player cards as first-hand collection and secondary market trades would be able to become a complementary revenue sources to our players and teams.” – Rappler.com
