Teen MMA prodigy Victoria Lee joins ONE Championship
Only 16 years old, Victoria Lee believes she’s ready to ‘compete with the world’s best martial arts athletes’

Expect to see another young talent conquer the mixed martial arts stage.

Teen MMA prodigy Victoria Lee signs with ONE Championship, believing she’s ready for the “next level” and “compete with the world’s best martial arts athletes.”

At just 16 years old, Lee already boasts a growing list of impressive accolades, which includes a 2019 IMMAF Junior World Championship, two Pankration Junior World Championships, and a 2019 Hawaii State Wrestling Championship, among others. She is also a 15-time NAGA Expert Champion.

“I feel extremely excited and motivated to be part of the world’s largest martial arts organization, ONE Championship,” said Lee, the younger sister of ONE women’s atomweight world champion “Unstoppable” Angela Lee and ONE lightweight world champion Christian “The Warrior” Lee.

“Inspired by watching my older brother and sister compete on the biggest global stage of martial arts competition, I am ready to take my career to the next level and compete with the world’s best martial arts athletes.”

After ONE chairman and CEO Chatri Sityodtong made the announcement, Lee, who’s Canadian-American with a Singaporean and Korean heritage, vowed to keep working hard.

“I want to thank my parents for teaching me and guiding me, and for allowing me to chase my dreams,” she said. “I promise all the fans that I will continue to train hard and develop my skills, and that I’ll be ready when I get the call to step inside the ONE Circle.”

Born into a family of world champion martial artists, Lee was introduced to martial arts by her parents, who both trained and developed her skills from a young age.

Following in the footsteps of sister Angela and brother Christian, Lee is considered one of the top female mixed martial arts prospects in the world.

In fact, Angela believes Victoria is a better version of herself at her age, and is excited for her younger sister to take the world by storm.

“I am so happy for Victoria and extremely proud of her. She is a very gifted and driven young woman,” said Angela. “She told us that this is her dream – to be a professional fighter – and as a family, we are going to support her fully.”

Angela also thinks her sister is ready to compete at a higher level.

“Victoria is a gifted athlete and everyone will be witness to that when she makes her debut,” she said.

“I have confidence in our coach, our family and in Victoria that she is ready for this next level of competition… [she’s] part of this next generation that has been born and raised with MMA as a whole. The transitions are seamless, there are no gaps. She is still learning and improving each day but yes, she is already much better than I was at her age.”

Lee will join a stacked women’s atomweight division, where her older sister reigns as the division’s queen. Details on her official ONE Championship debut will be announced at a later date. – Rappler.com
