Oscars 2015: Julie Andrews praises Lady Gaga's 'Sound of Music' performance

MANILA, Philippines – “Dear Lady Gaga,” began Julie Andrews after newly engaged singer Lady Gaga finished her performance at the 2015 Oscars. “Thank you for that wonderful tribute.”

Actress Julie Andrews emerged after Lady Gaga’s medley performance of songs from The Sound of Music, a film where Julie Andrews herself starred in and captured the hearts of moviegoers worldwide. Lady Gaga opened with the titular song “The Sound of Music” before moving on to “My Favorite Things” and “Climb Every Mountain.”

After Julie hugged Lady Gaga, she reminisced about The Sound of Music, and how time passed by so fast. “I blinked, and suddenly here I am.”

In The Sound of Music, Julie Andrews played nun-turned-governess Maria assigned to care for the children of strict Captain Von Trapp (Christopher Plummer) during the war.
