Abanse Negrense and Sta Lucia emerged as the powerhouse squads in the 2021 Gatorade-Philippine Superliga (PSL) Beach Volleyball Challenge Cup as they rounded out the Final Four on Saturday, February 27 in Subic Bay.

Both Abanse teams swept their quarterfinal opponents to continue their undefeated streak in the country’s first volleyball event since the lockdown in March.

Alexa Polidario and Erjane Magdato powered Abanse Negrense A to a 21-12, 21-11 victory over Toby’s Sports Javen Sabas and Jonah San Pedro to kick off the quarterfinals.

Jennifer Cosas and Gelimae Villanueva of Abanse Negrense B then completed the last 4 as they made quick work of Kennedy Solar Energy- Petrogazz’s Ariane Alarcon and Christina Canares, 21-6, 21-3.

Sta Lucia B, led by Jonah Sabete and Bang Pineda, took down United Auctioneers in straight sets, 21-13, 21-15 , for a semis berth.

DM Demontano and Jackie Estoquia of Sta Lucia A, though, survived the challenged by F2 Logistics’ Jenny Senares and Kyla Gallego, who took the opening set.

Sta Lucia A rose from the first-set loss to barge into the semis with a 16-21, 21-10, 15-10 win.

Abanse Negrense A will face Sta Lucia B, while Abanse B will meet Sta Lucia’s A team on Sunday, February 28 for a finals berth. – Rappler.com
