About Fritzie Rodriguez

Fritzie Rodriguez is a writer and researcher for Rappler.

She writes stories on campaign spending and election-related violations as part of the #PHVote coverage.

Prior to joining the research team, she was a writer for MovePH, Rappler's civic engagement wing. She covers issues on children's and women's rights.

She writes for the #HungerProject, featuring the intersections of poverty and health. She also writes for the #GenderIssues section, sparking discussions on reproductive health, divorce, abortion, LGBT rights, and violence against women and children.

She graduated magna cum laude from the University of the Philippines-Diliman with a degree in Broadcast Communication. She also spent a year in Japan studying International Relations as an exchange student.

She was also a finalist for the 2015 Silliman University National Writers Workshop (Creative Non-fiction Category), the 2015 European Union Peace Journalism Awards, and the 2014 Lassalian Scholarum Awards.

In 2015, she received a fellowship from Canal France International, under the Media 21 Asia Project. She was part of a team of Southeast Asian journalists that travelled to Thailand, Malaysia, and Vietnam to learn how to cover environmental and climate change issues.

For her final project, she produced a series of stories on the environmental practices of the Hanunuo Mangyan, an indigenous community in Oriental Mindoro.

She was also part of the Philippine team that covered the 2015 Climate Conference in Paris, France.
