He uses his voice for real-life commentaries too

Mark Averilla, more popularly known as Macoy Dubs, rose to social media fame by dubbing popular movie clips from The Devil Wears Prada and Mean Girls.

When he realized that his content was reaching more and more people, he decided to use this voice for social good. His voice went from simple comedy to humor with context and activism. According to him, “the best way to touch [Filipinos’] emotions is through humor,” so his intent with producing social commentary is always rooted in being able to reach more Filipinos, whether or not they agree with his own political opinions.

You’ll mostly see him in videos doing bits and impressions of hallmark Filipino interactions on TikTok and Twitter. Macoy’s content is rich with pop culture references, always rooted with thought and the best of intentions. Mostly, they’re really just annoyingly funny.

Check out how he starts his day here.

FIRST GRAB. Normally, mas nauuna pa ako magising kaysa sa alarm clock ko. I usually grab my phone because ‘pag may Viber messages – na-paparanoid ako haha!

To start my day, Britney Spears’ Stronger and Todrick Hall’s Nail Hair Hips Heels are my mood booster.

SKINCARE ESSENTIALS. I still do the same skincare routine kahit nasa bahay lang. So every morning, naliligo ako agad to energize myself and ‘yung skincare ko is typically Olay Regenerist Micro-Sculpting Serum followed by Clinique’s Dramatically Different Moisturizing Gel and Neutrogena sunscreen. ‘Pag evening naman, I use Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Concentrate then the same serum, moisturizer, and eye cream.

Feeling ko mas madaming gumagamit ng toner compared sa akin haha! For serums and concentrate, I use Olay and Kiehl’s. My go-to moisturizer and eye cream is Clinique’s Clinique All About Eyes.

BEFORE I START. I don’t start work sa bahay kapag walang coffee haha! Kailangan ko rin ng playlist to set the good mood para fresh vibes throughout the day.

IF I MUST GO. Usually mahilig ako magsuot ng tokong pants. My style is wearing tokong pants and long sleeves, sometimes t-shirt and rubber shoes. ‘Di ako gano’n ka-fashionista!

IF I’M STAYING IN. Naku, ‘pag sa bahay, t-shirt and shorts lang.

FAVE DELIVERS. FoodPanda and GrabFood. Kung sa delivery naman ng toiletries and other essentials, Lazada and Shopee.

ROUTINE REMINDERS. Since nag-start ang lockdown, mas naging conscious ako sa diet ko. Naging motivated rin ako to exercise daily. I also make time to create more content because it’s my outlet to destress.

For schedules, I set a calendar reminder and I jot it down sa planner paradi ko nakakalimutan.

For video conferences, I usually put a little foundation para fresh naman sa eyes ng mga kasama sa video conference call.

COME BACK HOME. I spray alcohol all over my body and sa bottom ng shoes! Then ligo agad pagdating sa house. 🙂
