This is a press release from University of the Philippines Materials Science Society.
The University of the Philippines Materials Science Society (UP MSS) will conduct the Materials Science and Engineering (MSE) Summit 2021, with the theme “MatEnvision: Reimagining Materials Science and Engineering in the ‘New Normal,’” on April 10, 17 and 24.
MatEnvision is the latest installment of UP MSS’ MSE Summit, the country’s leading avenue for students, professionals, and enthusiasts of materials science and engineering.
The event was established in 2014 in adherence to the organization’s goal of advancing materials science and engineering. Since then, it has been a gathering where attendees can compete, share innovations in the field, trade personal accounts about their expertise, and encourage others to choose a career in MSE as well.
At the center of the event is the MSE Symposium, a series of talks that will feature Filipino innovators and advancements that became vital during a global pandemic. There will also be a Research Fair, a competition where high school students will showcase research works and projects about MSE.
This year’s summit features two new events: The Materials Case Quest and the Poster-Making Competition. The Materials Case Quest is a problem-solving competition where participants will apply MSE concepts to provide a solution for a hypothetical case. The Poster-Making Competition, on the other hand, will feature digital arts from budding artistic scientists and science enthusiasts.
MSE Summit 2021 will be done purely online. The MSE Symposium will be held via Zoom on April 10 and 17. Meanwhile, the finals round for the Research Fair and Materials Case Quest, alongside the awarding ceremonies, will be on April 24.
Those interested to join may register here. Others may also stay tuned to livestream of the event on the Materials Science and Engineering Summit Facebook page and UP Materials Science Society’s Youtube channel.
The MSE Summit 2021 is co-presented by Dream Big Branding, in cooperation with Shimadzu Philippines, and is sponsored by Ravicon Builders. The event is also done in partnership with the American Concrete Institute Philippines – Federation of Student Leaders, the E-waste Project, and the UST Association of Civil Engineering Students. Other publicity partners include the Ateneo Mathematics Society, Deli Stationery PH, and UP Aggregates Inc.
