GMA announced on Tuesday, November 9, that actor John Lloyd Cruz has joined the network.
“John Lloyd Cruz is officially back,” GMA announced in a tweet, alongside the hashtag #JLConGMA.
In a separate tweet, they wrote, “GMA executives welcome John Lloyd Cruz’ grand return to showbiz.”
GMA had earlier teased that an award-winning actor would be joining its roster of talents. The network has yet to announce John Lloyd’s upcoming projects.
John Lloyd, 38, is considered to be among the top actors in the country. He first rose to fame in the late 2000s as a talent of ABS-CBN’s Star Magic. He starred in numerous hit ABS-CBN shows, including Tabing Ilog, It Might Be You, Maging Sino Ka Man, and Imortal.
The actor last top-billed the 2017 film Finally Found Someone with Sarah Geronimo before he took an “indefinite leave of absence” from showbiz in October 2017. He and actress Ellen Adarna welcomed their son in 2018.
Since then, he has rarely made public appearances. He played a small role in the December 2019 Metro Manila Film Festival entry Culion. In February 2020, it was revealed that John Lloyd was set to star in Servando Magdamag, a film directed by Lav Diaz and penned by Ricky Lee.
In May 2021, John Lloyd signed with Maja Salvador’s talent management agency, Crown Artist Management (CAM). – Rappler.com
