What to expect from Salo-Salo Fest, the country’s first theme park music festival

MUSIC FESTIVAL. Salo-Salo Fest is set to happen at Enchanted Kingdom from December 2 to 4.

Salo-Salo Fest

From a stellar line-up to unlimited rides, here's what the Salo-Salo Fest has to offer

MANILA, Philippines – Live music and theme parks are two things the pandemic has put a pause on, and now both are coming back in full swing at the Salo-Salo Fest, the country’s first theme park music festival.

The festival is happening on December 2, 3, and 4 at Enchanted Kingdom in Sta. Rosa, Laguna, and there’s a lot to look forward to – mostly that you can sing your heart out to some great songs, and scream your heart out from the top of a wild ride all in the same hour, if you so desire. That is pretty much what a great day is made of.

Whether you’re still thinking of going or you’ve already booked your tickets, here are some of the things you can look forward to:

All ages-friendly

Music festivals don’t normally come off as family affairs, but because this one is happening at a theme park, there’s a lot to keep every member of the family entertained.

The festival is open to all ages, and kids below 35 inches tall can enter for free. Minors should be accompanied by a parent or guardian with a ticket though, with two minors allowed for every one adult. Pets aren’t allowed, which is just as well, because we can’t imagine Bantay will take too well on a rollercoaster.

Quite the line-up

Festival organizers Karpos did not hold back when they came up with the line-up for Salo-Salo Fest. It’s the perfect mix of OPM icons and up-and-coming talents: Rico Blanco, Barbie Almalbis, Ely Buendia, Ebe Dancel, Parokya ni Edgar, Urbandub, Zild, Unique, Clara Benin, Ysanygo, Ena Mori, and more.

American artists Johnny Stimson and the duo Joan are also joining the line-up, performing on the first and second days, respectively.

With artists across genres – rock n’ roll, RnB, pop, and folk – there’ll be enough music to satisfy all kinds of music fans, and lots of exciting new songs to discover too.

Unlimited rides

In between sets, festival-goers can ride all they want at any of Enchanted Kingdom’s many rides. It’s the perfect opportunity to revisit EK classics like the Flying Fiesta, Anchor’s Away, or Jungle Log Jam. It’s also a great time to finally try anything you were too freaked out to ride before – the Space Shuttle or the Ekstreme Tower Ride, maybe?

Since reopening in June 2021, Enchanted Kingdom also launched the Twin Spin – their newest ride that’s kind of like a regular rollercoaster, except you’re spinning around in circles as you go up and down and around.

A dance tent

If you still have the time and the energy in between rides and music, you can also get down and boogie to live DJ sets at the festival’s Goody Dance Shoes tent.

The dance tent line-up includes some of the country’s best DJs and producers: Abdel Aziz, Manolet Dario, Crwn, Curtismith, Ean Mayor, St. Vincent & The Grenadines, and more.

Festival-goers also get a front seat to Enchanted Kingdom’s famous EOD fireworks displays, which might just be the perfect cap-off to a fun-filled day.

Tickets to Salo-Salo Fest are available on Tickelo.com. Regular tickets, which includes unlimited rides, range from P2,250 (day pass) to P5,000 (three-day pass). Meanwhile, VIP tickets, which includes unli-rides, express lane access, and a VIP kit ranges from P3,500 (day pass) to P9,500 (three-day pass). – Rappler.com
