Streaming platform iQiyi announced on Wednesday, September 22 eight series and two movies set to premiere on their platform from October to December 2021. 

Here’s iQiyi’s lineup of upcoming content for the last quarter of the year:

Series
Yumi’s Cells

Based on a popular webtoon of the same name, Yumi’s Cells follows office worker Yumi, whose romance “cells” fall into a coma after her recent breakup. Yumi’s cells are then activated after she meets several attractive young males. 

The romantic-comedy stars Kim Go-eun (Goblin, The King: Eternal Monarch), Ahn Bo-hyun (Itaewon Class), and GOT7’s Park Jin-young. 

Yumi’s Cells is already available for streaming in iQiyi.

Jirisan

An iQiyi original, Jirisan follows experienced national park ranger Seo Yi-kang (Legend of the Blue Sea’s Jun Ji-hyun) and rookie ranger Kang Hyun-jo (Princess Hours’ Ju Ji-hoon) as they uncover the secrets of Jirisan, the tallest mountain on the South Korean mainland. 

The suspense-thriller drama is set to premiere on iQiyi on October 23. 

IDOL: The Coup
EXID’s Hani is idol member Kim Je-na in ‘IDOL: The Coup’

IDOL: The Coup follows Kim Je-na, played by Ahn Hee-yeon (also known as EXID’s Hani), member of a female idol group who is still not famous despite six years in the industry. Facing termination, she tries her best to find success for the group. 

It will premiere on iQiyi in November. 

Let Me Be Your Night
Lee Jun-young portrays the lead singer of the idol band LUNA in ‘Let Me Be Your Night’

Let Me Be Your Night follows the lead singer of the famous idol band LUNA who suffers from sleepwalking. He tries to overcome his condition with the help of a physician who lives with the group. 

Lee Jun-young stars as the singer while Jung In-sun plays the physician. U-KISS’ Lee Jun-young, NU’EST’s Kim Jong-hyun, Wanna One’s Yoon Ji-sung, and AB61X’s Kim Dong-hyun complete the cast. 

The romantic-comedy series will be available on iQiyi starting November.

Royal Inspector Secret Joy
2PM’s Taecyeon stars in the historical romantic drama ‘Royal Inspector Secret Joy’

The period romantic-comedy series is set in the Joseon dynasty. 2PM’s Ok Taec-yeon plays the character of a young rich gourmet who unwittingly becomes a secret royal inspector. For his missions, he teams up with Kim Hye-yoon, who portrays a wife seeking divorce. 

Royal Inspector Secret Joy will be available on iQiyi in November.

Melancholia 

Melancholia follows the forbidden romance between a private high school math teacher (played by Lim Soo-jung) and a math genius student (played by Lee Do-hyeon) who are 16 years apart. 

The series is set to premiere via iQiyi in November. 

Bad and Crazy
Lee Dong-wook leads the cast of K-Drama ‘Bad and Crazy’

Lee Dong-wook (My Girl, Tale of the Nine Tailed) is set to star in the action series Bad and Crazy as the corrupt supervisor Su-yeol. As Su-yeol fights corruption in the police force while in order to get a promotion (while being corrupt himself), he meets a crazy but good guy named K (played by Wi Ha-jun).

Bad and Crazy will be available on iQiyi in December. 

The Man’s Voice

In The Man’s Voice,  a part-time convenience store worker (played by Song Ji-eun) has developed the ability to communicate with cats after a lightning strike. She’s then asked by a first officer (played by Choi Tae-joon) to take care of his cat. 

The Man’s Voice is set to premiere in iQiyi in December. 

Movies
Midnight
Wi Ha-jun plays a serial killer in ‘Midnight’
iQiyi

Jin Ki-joo plays a hearing-impaired sign language counsellor who becomes the next target of a serial killer (played by Wi Ha-jun). 

The crime-thriller film is already available for streaming on iQiyi. 

Shark: The Beginning

Adapted from a webtoon series, Shark: The Beginning follows a bullying victim (played by Kim Min-seok) who is put into a juvenile correction facility after an accident. He then meets a mixed martial arts champion (played by Wi Ha-jun), who trains him to stand up for himself.
