ROUNDTABLE: What are stakeholders doing to achieve a waste-free future?
Learn about plastic waste management actions and plans of stakeholders from different sectors

These days, we often hear the buzzword “zero waste,” but what does it mean to be waste-free? More importantly, how do we get there?

In this roundtable discussion, we learned about the roles of each stakeholder: What are the current efforts of different private and public groups to lessen plastic pollution? How interconnected are the responsibilities and actions of the government, the academe, private corporations, and NGOs with each other – specific to waste management?

We also discussed the updated data on plastic waste in the country and take a closer look at keywords in waste management, such as extended producers’ responsibility (EPR) and plastic neutrality.

Our speakers included:

  • Crispian Lao, National Solid Waste Management Commission (NSWMC) Vice Chairman
  • Kais Marzouki, Nestlé Philippines Chairman & CEO
  • Tonette Tanchuling, UP Diliman Institute of Civil Engineering (ICE) Director
  • Joel Palma, WWF Executive Director

This roundtable discussion was moderated by host Zak Yuson.
