Local chocolate brand Auro has come a long way from its humble tree-to-bar chocolate beginnings online – the award-winning, artisanal chocolatier is set to open its first grab-and-go café at IKEA Philippines’ first branch in Pasay City in December.

Furniture shopping and binging on chocolate: what more could you ask for? Auro’s first “proudly Filipino” physical branch will offer its signature line of handcrafted chocolates, with ingredients all sourced sustainably and locally. The store will house interiors handwoven by Boholano weavers; even the lights and staff’s uniforms are handmade by various local communities.

According to Auro, “auroholics” can expect new and original sweet and savory treats made with Auro chocolate, as well as local coffee and chocolate beverages. They will also be serving dark chocolate soft-serve ice cream in their signature lengua de gato cone.

Limited edition branded collaborations with other local brands can be expected from time to time, and of course, all of Auro’s internationally-awarded chocolate products will be available to buy in-store, like their chocolate bars, chocolate bombs, chocolate coins, cacao powder, and more.

Auro Chocolate aims to champion local goods and promote sustainability by working directly with local farmers to plant and harvest fine Filipino cacao beans and ingredients to create retail products easily enjoyed by casual chocoholics and cocoa connoisseurs.

IKEA Pasay City will be opening to the public on November 25. It is the Swedish furniture brand’s biggest branch in the world yet. – Rappler.com
