DAVAO CITY, Philippines – A magnitude 5.3 earthquake rocked the province of Davao Oriental on Thursday morning, October 4, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Philvolcs) said.

The quake struck at around 2.28 am 169 km Southeast of Mati City with a depth of 158 km and was felt with intensity 2 in Mati City.

No injuries or property damage have been reported so far.

Three mild earthquakes were also recorded in Davao Oriental on Wednesday morning.

First, a magnitude 3.1 tremor was registered 72 kilometers Northeast of Mati City at 1.45 am and 50 km deep.

After the 5.4 quake, a 4.5 aftershock was reported at 6.05 am some 29 kilometers Northeast of the Cateel town, and another 3.6 one followed 32 km Southeas of Governor Generoso at around 7.05 am, Philvocs posted.
