MANILA, Philippines – Peter Joemel Advincula, the man known as Bikoy, has been brought to the Philippine National Police (PNP) General Hospital after he experienced chest pain and headaches.

PNP chief General Oscar Albayalde announced this in a press briefing in Camp Crame on Friday, May 24, saying Advincula apparently experienced high blood pressure.

Advincula was hospitalized two days after he surrendered to cops, and a day after he apologized to members of the family of President Rodrigo Duterte and his allies whom he had earlier linked to illegal drugs. He recanted these allegations on Thursday, May 23, and tagged opposition senator Antonio Trillanes IV and the Liberal Party as behind an alleged ouster plot against Duterte.

Ahead of the May 13 elections, Advincula surfaced and claimed to be “Bikoy,” the man behind the viral Ang Totoong Narcolist videos who had tagged people close to the President as receiving millions of pesos in drug money. He had claimed that he worked for a Bicol-based drug syndicate and handled its ledgers.

Advincula said in a news briefing hosted by the PNP on Thursday that all his allegations were false and that he decided to surrender after Trillanes and the Liberal Party supposedly failed to pay him the P500,000 that they allegedly promised him for fabricating his testimony. 

Trillanes and the LP had categorically denied the allegation.

As Advincula still faced detention over an estafa complaint, the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) has kept him under its watch. – Rappler.com
