Senators Panfilo Lacson and Vicente Sotto III launch their bid for the two highest posts in the land as the official campaign period for the 2022 elections begins on Tuesday, February 8.
The two candidates hold their proclamation rally in Imus, Cavite – Lacson’s hometown. Lacson and Sotto are set to hear mass at 3:30 pm inside the Imus Cathedral. At 5 pm, they will hold their proclamation rally at the Imus Grandstand.
Being the most senior candidates in their races, Lacson and Sotto put their decades of experience upfront as they call for Filipinos to cast their votes for them in May.

Senators Panfilo Lacson and Vicente Sotto III, both 73 years old, see no problem with their age as they kicked off their campaign on Tuesday, February 8.
According to Lacson, he underwent a wellness test in 2019 and was told that his “body age” was that of a 51-year-old. Sotto, meanwhile, said they were both prepared “physically and mentally” for a gruelling campaign – and, if elected, a six-year term running the affairs of the country.
“We can provide a good alternative. We’re not pro-opposition, we’re not pro-administration. We’re pro-Filipino,” Senate President Vicente Sotto III told reporters back in July 2021.
Sotto and Lacson have consistently slammed the Duterte government’s mishandling of the coronavirus pandemic. They wanted to form a government which could do a better job. To improve governance, they cited the need for budget reform.
The approach could be an alternative to federalism, the tandem said, “without changing the Constitution.”
CAVITE, Philippines – Don’t expect presidential bet Panfilo Lacson and his running mate Vicente Sotto III to make promises that are nice to hear but impossible to deliver on.
“Hindi puwedeng kunin sa kuwentuhan at bolahan ang pagtakbo sa pagkapangulo,” Lacson said on Tuesday, February 8, in his first press briefing as a presidential candidate as the 2022 campaign period began. (You can’t wage a presidential campaign making empty talk and weaving tall tales.)
He cited examples of unrealistic promises by other candidates, but refused to name the rivals.
