The opening Mass of the annual Fiesta Señor will will kick off the annual Cebu City tradition on Friday, January 8.
The Mass will start at 5:30 am with the enthronement of the image of Santo Niño, while the opening salvo Mass begins at 6 am.
The Fiesta Señor is the 9-day celebration of the Holy Child Jesus which precedes the annual Sinulog Festival, which takes place every third Sunday of January.
Due to the pandemic, this year’s fiesta celebration – which normally brings in millions of tourists from all over the world – will be limited to 1,000 attendees at the basilica to ensure physical distancing.
The church, however, encourages devotees to attend Masses virtually from the safety of their homes.
